Dave Pilon

Dave Pilon , a native of the Laurentides region, began his classical guitar studies at the Lionel-Groulx college, under Gilles Lauzon and Isabelle Héroux. in 2000, he enroled in the Montreal Conservatory of Music, in the class of Jean Valières, where he was awarded a Performance Prize in 2005. He perfected his skills, on several occasions, under the tutelage of internationally renowed guitarist Fabio Zanon. He also deepened his knowledge base in couterpoint and advanced harmony with Jacques Faubert, as well as orchestral and choir direction with Louis Lavigueur.

From 2004 to 2007, he has studied with renowed orchestral conductor Raffi Armenian, in the orchestral conducting class of the conservatory. During this period, he also directed the guitar orchestra and the symphony orchestra of the conservatory, both in rehearsal as well as in concert.

He has taught music in several school of the CSDM, and now teaches guitar at the Lionel-Groulx college.

Since 2005, the Montreal Guitar Society Orchestra has been under his care, and he has also been deputy conductor for the Forestare Guitar Ensemble since 2009. Furthermore, he is director of the Do-Ré-Mi, Porte-bonheur and Vif-Argent Choirs, as well as of the Children's Choir of the St-Paul-de-la-croix School.

Dave also plays in a guitar duet with Francois Destrempes, and in a guitar-saxophone duet with his spouse Mélissa Seguin.
