Guitare Montreal | Thierry Bégin-Lamontagne

MAY 26 to 28, 2017

Thierry Bégin-Lamontagne

Thierry Bégin-Lamontagne, a canadian guitarist, is the recipient of more than twenty competitive awards including from five prestigious international guitar competitions, in Canada, The Montreal International Competition, in Spain: the guitarra festival Petrer, concurso internacional ciudad de guitarra de Coria, Festival de Guitarra Ciutat d'Elx, and the Nicolas Alfonso competition in Belgium in 2014. He has also received the public award several times.

Thierry Bégin-Lamontagne was born in 1986 in Cowansville, Quebec, Canada. He studied with Alvaro Pierri and received his MA in 2013.

Known for his striking and bright interpretations he brings out from his instrument a refined sound, a contrasting performance, as well as frank and expressive melodic lines. It is in an almost careless manner that he demonstrates these qualities in a decidedly musical performance before an ever more enthusiastic audience.

His musical style offers a bewildering and authentic interpretation full of courage, vivacity and boldness, making these musical moments an interpretive gem filled with colour and humour.

As one of the special prizes won in Petrer, Thierry Bégin-Lamontagne tours in Spain, Argentina, Brazil, Mexico, Portugal, Finland, the United States and Canada.

In February 2015, he released his first album, "Aquerelle", where one may find typical works from different countries.

In 2016, he studies in France for six months through the scholarship of the Foundation Sylva Gelber pour la musique.

Thierry Bégin-Lamontagne plays on a Jean Rompré guitar and is sponsored by D'Addario strings.
